Breakthrough New York Hiring Paid Mentors!

Breakthrough New York (BTNY) is hiring for our 2018-2019 cohort of High School Mentors and College Access Mentors!

BTNY’s High School Mentors (HSM) and College Access Mentors (CAM) directly support a small group of grade-specific BTNY students in achieving meaningful milestones on their path to college graduation, including:

  • Planning and teaching college-prep workshops six times per year at Super Saturdays
  • Checking-in and supporting your cohort of students remotely between Super Saturdays (connecting them to academic and social-emotional supports, editing college application essays, finding summer enrichment opportunities, etc.)
  • Tracking and reporting on student data
  • Supporting High School events during the year such as Mock Interview Day and College Decision Day

These are exciting PAID internship opportunities designed for NYC-based college students or recent grads who have an interest in non-profit operations, education, college access, teaching, and mentoring first-generation college students. As part of your compensation, you will receive:

  • base stipend of $1,750 (High School Mentors) or $2,250 (College Access Mentors)
  • Pre-paid Metrocards for travel related to your internship
  • Ongoing professional development support, including PF focused meetings and letters of recommendation

If this sounds like an opportunity you’re interested in, please review the job description on our website (www.btny.org/internships) and submit your application online (tinyurl.com/BTNYMentor2018) by July 22nd. If you have any questions, please shoot us an e-mail at seasonal@btny.org
